Autumn: Union Square Farmers Market

by julespetra

There’s nothing like the fall for vegetables. Yes the summer is beautiful, I can’t deny the horror I feel when the heirloom tomatoes start to look beat up. But walking through the Union Square farmers market today I didn’t miss the peaches.

The view of radish, pumpkin, squash, okra, and romanesco beneath the flutter of autumn leaves gave me the perfect cozy feeling I’ve been desperately waiting for all summer. Between you and me, it looks heaps more stunning than a box of strawberries in early june. We can agree to disagree but first, get a look at these.

romanesco, a most beautiful beast

Okra, slimy and delicious

I can't resist hairy garlic
