Last night I attempted this seemingly simple dessert. Poaching the pears was easy. The hard part was not finding any good recipes! Sure there’s the usual, poached in wine, but I wanted to try something new. So I threw in the pot: basil, bay leaves, orange blossom water, and a few lemon peels. It smelled amazing, but it didn’t have the flavor it needed to make a strong sauce. In the end, I threw in some blueberries and a scoop of ice cream and that did the trick. Next time, I’ll make a caramel glaze…and I’ll remember the pecans (which I hid in the oven! Silly me!) Bon Apetit.
